Your tires are your best defense against preventable problems while on the road. When you're facing inclement weather, the last thing you will want to experience is slippage because your tires are not working at their optimal capacity. One of the easiest things you can do to prevent this is to make sure to rotate your tires at the proper intervals.

When Should You Rotate?

It is advised that if you put less than 10,000 miles on your car annually, that you should have your tires rotated when you get your oil changed. This is assuming that you change your oil at least once per year. If you are putting more than 10,000 miles on your vehicle per year, it is suggested that you rotate them every six months or when you're logged 7,500 miles.

Who Should Rotate?

In a word: everyone. If your car is front wheel drive, the two tires at the front are going to accumulate more wear and tear than will the back tires. The reverse is true when your car is rear wheel drive. And for cars with all wheel drive, it is still recommended that they be switched every 7,500 miles. Plain and simple, the usage of your tires will be different whether they are in the front or the back, and this is why you must rotate.

Why Should You Rotate?

Safety is a major concern and is more than enough reason to rotate your tires. By making sure that your tires wear evenly, you will ensure that you do not have two worn tires with two tires that still have lots of tread. Both tires should be able to grip at the same level, and you will save money by making the best use of your tires.

Where Should You Rotate?

Having a professional perform this for you is advised, and it is good to find a shop that can perform other things, such as transmission service, auto engine repair, brake replacement, mechanic service, general auto repair, and tire sales. This is because a well rounded and experienced mechanic will have the tools and know-how to help you with any other maintenance issues you may need.
